Jonathan Elyashiv was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. He grew up listening to The Beatles, Elton John, Queen, Neil Young, ELO and more classic artists. Shortly after taking up classical guitar at the age of 9, he discovered his passion for bass. He taught himself by playing along to the greats using a homemade bass he and his dad made from scratch. This passion and continued training helped him get him a scholarship to Berklee College of Music to study bass performance. By his senior year, Jonathan was awarded the Wes Wehmiller scholarship from the bass department and his mentor, Danny Morris.
After graduation in 2017, Jonathan set off on a west coast tour with artist Chloe Jane, whose EP he produced. By the fall of that year, he moved to Los Angeles, CA. There, he played bass with Eva B. Ross, Munro The Band, Robinson Kirby, Wake Child, Evan Roth, Temme Scott, and more. He was an assistant engineer to Clay Blair at Boulevard Recording where he worked with Mandy Moore, Andrew Bird, Sean and Sara Watkins, Mike Viola, Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, Matt Chamberlain, Peter Case, Greg Leisz, Sean Hurley, and Victor Indrizzo. He also had the pleasure of learning the art of vintage keyboard repair when he worked as an assistant to Ken Rich. In January of 2020, Jonathan went on an east coast tour with Eva B. Ross alongside Jack Symes.
Over the covid pandemic lockdown, Jonathan returned home to Providence and started working more as a music producer. He released an album of his original music titled If You Should Ever Come to See Me in October of 2020. After starting a music listening group with his friends for comfort during tough times, Jonathan began to write and record with some of its members, Max Challis and Johnny Cattini of the band, Morningbird. He then went on to produce an upcoming album with them that was mixed by Clay Blair. By December of 2021, he moved to Brooklyn, NY, opening a small production studio. He has since produced music with Chase Ceglie, Andrew Smith, Max Challis, and Jessie Davidson. In addition to his production work, he has recently played bass with Jacob Snider, The Younger Brothers, Grant Milliken, Eleni Paris, Meira, Drea, Talker and more.
